Autism Service Dogs of America is the organization who provided Hope to our family. They are the only service dog organization in the United States that trains dog solely for use by individuals with autism. This was an important consideration for me. As a therapist, I have encountered many service dogs for people with other disabilities and they are incredibly useful, but the the skills that those dogs use are vastly different than the skills that autistic kids need.
I would encourage you to check out their website and maybe even consider donating to the organization. They are non-profit and your donations are tax deductible. We have started a scholarship fund called Hope for Gray that is used to help other families reach their donation goals. Please consider joining us in this effort.
